“How God’s grace inspires and empowers us to build a community of diverse generosity.”
I’m sure you, like me, have at some point stripped a dandelion naked with a puff of your breath, watching its robe of seeds scatter to the wind. And what happened? Days later scores more dandelions stood tall with their faces shining in the sun, ready to be as generous as the dandelion that spawned them. And so on, and so on.
The dandelion holds nothing back; it gives itself extravagantly. There is something incredibly generous about the way the dandelion does all this.
Creation is filled with generosity because it takes after the Creator. Life is the product of God’s generosity. Joy and peace and freedom flow from God’s generosity. And those who learn to appreciate and embrace God’s generosity become generous with their lives, building communities where generosity flourishes. Who doesn’t want to be part of a generous community? Who doesn’t want to live a life worth giving?
Did you know that just one dandelion can create and scatter more than two thousand seeds? Can you imagine how much more you will do when you learn to be truly generous with your life?
For seven weeks, starting May 7th, we’ll explore what it means to be truly generous with our forgiveness, our hospitality, our service, our money and our influence.
If you want to go deeper than just listening to the sermons, join a LifeGroup where you’ll get to talk with other people about how they’ve been impacted by God’s generosity and how it has inspired them to live generously.
Proverbs 11:24 (ESV)
One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.
