Parents, just follow the instructions and have a great time with your kids worshipping God and learning from His Word together!
Advent 3: Wonder – A Baby!
First watch this lesson video:
After the video…
1. Wonder together
Here are some questions to discuss and wonder about together from Luke 1:26-38; 2:1-7
- In the time of the Old Testament, what kind of Rescuer-King did they wonder was going to come?
- How would you have felt if you were Mary receiving the news from the angel Gabriel that she was going to have baby Jesus?
- How do you think Mary and Joseph felt when they got to Bethlehem and couldn’t find a place to stay?
- Instead of being born in a palace, where was Jesus born? What do you imagine it was like?
- Why did God come as a baby?
2. Pray Together
Begin with the opening prayer below then take turns thanking God for coming as a baby.
“Dear God, thank you for coming as a baby. Help us remember that you understand what it’s like to be one of us and we can come to You with anything. Help us remember that because you lived a sinless life You could save us, take away our sin, and make us new. Please forgive us and help us to love and follow You with all our hearts. May we be full of wonder as we remember Your wonderful love for us.”
3. The Marvelous Memory Verse Challenge (Final week!)
Has your family memorized Luke 2:8-14?
To be part of the video next week, record your child reciting the memory verse. Hold your phone or camera in horizontal format. They can choose whether or not to include the hand motions.
For instructions on how to send it in, check out the parent e-news that will be sent on Monday or email pastorchristina@freedomhill.church
Here is a link to the song video on Youtube that will help your family memorize it (if they haven’t alreay!). https://youtu.be/pBmTkQAEjBY
There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord.” This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.” – Luke 2:8-14

5 Sing together!
Here’s a song the kids performed a couple of years ago for Christmas. Sing out His praise… it’s Christmastime!
