Here are ideas to help you talk, learn, pray and worship together.

1. Talk about the lesson

Review the Scripture passage from today’s lesson. Read Matthew 6:1-18 with your child. Then talk about the following:

• – Could we give, pray and fast for the wrong reasons? What would be some wrong reasons?
• – How did Jesus say we should pray and do good things?
• – What are some things we can we do so that we’re not tempted to “show off” in front of others?

2. Pray Together

When we do things for the right reasons (and not to show off or pretend) that’s called having a pure heart.

Today’s memory verse from Psalm 51:10 is a good way to start your prayer! As you pray together, take turns beginning with the memory verse and then filling in the blank: “Create in me a pure heart, Oh God. Help me to ____________________”

End your time by praying the Lord’s prayer together.

3. Sing together

All we do should be out of love for God. It’s the most important thing.
