In the moment on the cross when Jesus cried out, “My God! My God! Why have you forsaken me?” he taught us something about moving beyond why.
Usually when we ask God “why?” it’s because we feel as though He’s failing on His side of the bargain. I go to church, pray, lead a Christian life, and God in return is supposed to take care of me, protect me. When He doesn’t, or when we feel like He isn’t, we turn and ask, “Why?”
God wants more than a transactional relationship with us. He wants a transformational relationship, where we move beyond “why” into a life guided by His sacrifice, presence and promise.
